GCN Meeting Noon Wed 17 Oct Moody Gardens - Working Group proposal Sorry but we have been moved to the MACADAMIA ROOM
which is located in the Vistor Center. It is just to the right of the Garden
Restaurant. Please call me if you have questions. This meeting is open to anyone who wants to attend. Agenda - - Discuss TIFB Grant TIFB GRANT WORKING GROUPS --- Lawrence and I propose the following organization to support developing the TIFB Grant Implementation Plan. - Set up working groups for each major area (public access, services, & infrastructure) - Set up a planning group to coordinate, members-Lawrence Rhew , Steven Conway the chairs of each working group. We propose the following membership for each working group. We will add or delete anyone who wants to change working group membership, just let me know. This was our proposal just to get things going. If I don't hear from you I will assume you agree with this assignment. Public Access - Chair - Gary Anderson - Library Services - Chair - John Kovacevich - TAMUG Infrastructure - Chair - City - Jeff Chasalow We will break into working groups at 1:00pm for the rest of the meeting. Our last meeting was on 17 Oct. and we covered - - TIFB Grant -- Organization - Agreed on 3 Working Groups and a Planning Group made up of the chairs of the working groups, Lawrence Rhew and Steven Conway -- Consultants role - Write general parts of the grant from existing information that is available and support the working groups in writing their sections of the plan. -- Development of Implementation Plan - Discussed timeline - We discussed visits to other communities, John Kovacevich is setting them up - We discussed developing a public focused description of our project (vision, what other communities are doing, and this as a first/incremental step in the process) and getting public comments by public meetings and briefings to business community, GCN Exec. Group, Non Profit Organizations, Leadership Galveston, Civic Clubs (Rotary, Lions, etc). - Password protecting a working papers part of the GCN Web Site - Setting up a Interlocal Agreement Planning Group. Let me know if you're interested in being on this group please. - Dominion Lasercom demo'd their laser based wireless solution - Working groups met TIFB GRANT UPDATES --- The RFP for hiring a consultant is on the street and responses are due on 6 Nov.
