The June 2004 Galveston Community Network (GCN) Monthly Meeting will be at Noon Wed 9 June, 2004 Texas A&M Univ. at Galveston Building 3007 room 112. Lunch will be provided. Agenda – Fiber connectivity via city fiber – Update and discuss formal agreement between the City and GCN Fiber Connectivity to Houston Subcommittees Updates - Kiosk – Demo (lead - TAMUG) - Wireless - Implementation (lead - GC) - PR - Lead - UTMB - Community Needs Assessment (Denise Hefner Galveston County Lead) - TIFF Grant Punch List (TAMUG lead) Future Meeting topics (vendor demos, etc.) At the May meeting Tom Bridgewater of Pexx provided a presentation on 802.11x Wireless mesh technology. We want to thank Pexx for hosting lunch. TIFF Grant Punch list are – - Kiosk – Point all Kiosks to server at A&M - DONE - Installing final kiosk-Letter has been sent to Port requesting that we partner on providing the service - Training on Concierge the template system to add info – 19 May - DONE - Develop good process for updating content – Using student workers - UTMB purchase and develop content for kiosks (related but not funded by TIFF grant) - Wireless – - Getting TAMUG remote sites up w/ connectivity to Mitchell campus - Creating connectivity between TAMUG and CG (firewalls, routing lists, etc.) - Getting other member remote sites up w/ connectivity to organizations central sites - Getting connectivity between all members (firewalls, routing lists, etc.) - No Profit - Establish by laws and any other necessary paperwork for non profit status - Transferring property to 501c – In progress
