The Galveston Community Network (GCN) Monthly Meeting will be held at

Noon Wed 14 April at Rosenburg Libary Randall Room first floor.  Lunch will be provided.

Agenda –

            Possible a Library demo of RPA and public services

            Discuss possible Technical Opportunities Program grant focused on GIS systems as a joint effort with GEDP

            Subcommittees Updates

                        - Kiosk - content updating (lead - TAMUG)

                        - Wireless - Implementation (lead - GC)

                        - PR - Lead - UTMB

                        - Establishing Non Profit (lead-UTMB)

                        - Fiber connectivity via city fiber

- Community Needs Assessment (GC Lead)

- TIFF Grant Punch List (TAMUG lead)

            Future Meeting topics (vendor demos, etc.)

At the March meeting Roy Rachovitsky demo’d the Inter-Tel VoIP products.  We discussed the coordination of the City Fiber project.  Currently the County and City are working on an inter local agreement for a possible fiber run up Broadway-Jeff is taking the lead on this.  We discussed issuing an RFI for a partner to manage the City Fiber network for GCN- Steve Conway will take the lead on developing the RFI.  Bryon Fisher said that the Galveston Community Network has been incorporated by the state as GCN Inc.  

 

TIFF Grant Punch list are –

- Kiosk – Point all Kiosks to server at A&M

            - Installing final kiosk

                        -  Training on Concierge the template system to add info

            - Develop good process for updating content

            - County provide network access for their kiosk (DONE)

            - UTMB purchase and develop content for kiosks (related but not funded by TIFF grant)

- Wireless –

            - Getting TAMUG remote sites up w/ connectivity to Mitchell campus

            - Creating connectivity between TAMUG and CG (firewalls, routing lists, etc.)

            - Getting other member remote sites up w/ connectivity to organizations central sites

            - Getting connectivity between all members (firewalls, routing lists, etc.)

            - No Profit

-          Establish Non Profit 501c Corp, re-filed with the state as GCN, Inc. - DONE

-          Establish by laws and any other necessary paperwork

-          Transferring property to 501c

- Public Access workstations

-          Transfer final 2 workstations at TAMUG to Rosenberg Library - DONE
